I know we all have heard about the passing of our beloved prophet President Hinckley. As he has been the prophet for most of my life I have many fond memories of him. When I was a senior in high school I had the chance to sing in the General Young Womens Meeting choir that was held at the Tabernacle. On the day of the meeting we were told that the first presidency would probably be there and would be sitting on the stand. With all of the other instructions that we were given , we were told not to wave or make any contact with the people in the audience. This meeting was being broadcast all over the world and so we needed to be on our best respectful behavior. As the meeting was getting ready to start in walked the first presidency. Out of respect for our wonderful prophet the audience all stood. I will never forget when President Hinckley walked on to the stand and looked up at all of us young women with a great big smile on his face. He held his hand up and waved to all of us. Although we had been told not to wave, we all wave back with a smile. It felt like he looked right at me, and at that moment I felt the spirit testify to me that he is a true prophet of God. President Hinckley has done so much for our church world wide and has always set such a great example to all. He was always so kind, dedicated, humble, had a great sense of humor and showed unconditional love to everyone. I had a bitter sweet feeling when I heard of his passing. I know that it was his time to go and he is in a better place now. I can 't help but smile when I think of the wonderful reunion with his sweet wife Marjorie. What a great example to the world of being married for over 60 years. I will always remember him and am eternally grateful for his example. The church will go on and President Monson will be wonderful and will follow in his footsteps.
Here is a great site to look at some great pictures of President Hinckley.
